Ercüment Erdem Participated as a Speaker at the Conference on “The Development of Arbitration in Türkiye’s New Century"
Prof. Dr. H. Ercüment Erdem, Founder and Senior Partner of Erdem & Erdem Law Office, participated as a speaker at the conference entitled “The Development of Arbitration in Türkiye’s New Century”, organized by the Istanbul Chamber of Commerce Arbitration and Mediation Center (ITOTAM). The conference was held on 17 June 2026 at the Assembly Hall of the Istanbul Chamber of Commerce with the participation of Erdinç Avşar, Director General for Legal Affairs of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Türkiye.
Bringing together judges, attorneys, academics and arbitration practitioners, the conference addressed the development of arbitration in Türkiye and recent developments in arbitration practice.
Prof. Dr. H. Ercüment Erdem participated as a speaker in the second session, moderated by Prof. Dr. Ali Yeşilırmak, where he presented his paper entitled “Arbitration in Corporate Law Disputes: The Swiss Example, Lessons Learned and Recommendations”. In his presentation, Prof. Dr. Erdem examined the arbitrability of corporate law disputes, the resolution of such disputes through arbitration from a comparative law perspective, recent developments under Swiss law, and potential reform proposals for Turkish law.
With contributions from members of the judiciary, representatives of public institutions, academics and practitioners, the conference provided a valuable forum for exchanging views on the development of arbitration in Türkiye and for discussing initiatives aimed at further promoting arbitration culture and practice.
